Meta has launched Threads, a new app aiming to compete with Twitter. Within hours of its release, millions of users have already downloaded it.
However, Threads is not available in certain countries, including the states of the European Union. Meta has faced privacy concerns from European data protection supervisors, leading to the restriction.
Although the app requires an Instagram account, which might pose a challenge for some users, it is convenient for the large number of Instagram users who can transfer their followers and data to Threads.
Despite the absence of an official download option on the Google Play store for European users, there is a workaround to install and use Threads.
Here is how you can install Meta Threads if you Live in the European region and cannot find the app on the official app store.

Install Meta Threads on Android devices in Europe
Users from the European Union may install Threads and start using it. While the official download via the Google Play store is not provided at the time, a bypass is available that allows users from Europe to install and use Threads.
Required:
- Android phone running on Android 9 or later.
- An Active Instagram account
- A VPN App to change the IP address.
Once all set it’s time to download the Meta Threads APK and install on your Android.
- Download the Meta Threads APK.
- Connect to a VPN server
- Start the VPN server and select the location outside the European country.
- Now Tap on the app(com.instagram.barcelona_fixyourandroid.com) you have downloaded) to begin the installation.
- You may need to enable the Install From Unknown Source in Developer Option on your Android.
After completing the previous steps, proceed with the initial setup. This includes choosing your Instagram account if it’s already installed on your device or entering your Instagram account username and password manually.
Importing data from Instagram to Threads is optional; you can choose whether or not to do it. Also, you can manage the Threads notifications.
It’s important to note that you don’t need a VPN connection anymore at this point. The application can be started and used without any additional checks.
